Born Edmund James Stine he preferred Edward which he was always known as throughout his life. He was born 14th of 15 children of John and Amanda FISHER Stine in Centralia, PA. He was a strict Christian of the Methodist faith who married Maude Esther GOODMAN-Wills and raised five children, Alma, George Edward, Leard John, Emma Ruth, and Jeanne Elizabeth in Mt. Carmel. He was a plasterer by trade and loved gardening and tending to his vegetable garden in his back yard. He was loved by all who knew him and a well-respected pillar of the community. When his wife Maude died in 1939 of a sudden heart attack, he never remarried. He died having lived longer than any of his siblings in 1961 from complications following a fall. He was named for a Methodist Bishop, Edmund S. Janes who was on his deathbed when my Grandpop was born. He was named in honor of him. (bio by: S M)
