Biography

Annie was born in Upper Hardres (Canterbury) Kent on 20 August 1869. She is the daughter of Thomas Stockbridge and Ann (maiden name yet to be researched).

In 1891, Annie was working as a servant and residing in the household of Andrew Hoar, a widower, at 6 Oaten Hill, Canterbury. As it would turn out, Annie lived at this address until her death.

In 1893 in Canterbury, Annie wed the aforementioned Andrew Hoar. Andrew had been in a 38 year marriage with his first wife Caroline Cheeseman and no children had come from that marriage. We note there was a 41 year age difference between Annie and Andrew. They became the parents of 2 sons who were born in 1896 and 1899.

Annie was widowed in 1906. The 1911 census indicates that Annie was operating a boarding house at her residence. Annie passed away in Southwater Sussex on 17 June 1942 at age 72. She is interred at Canterbury City Cemetery.
