Johannes Jacob Stoehr, the son of Peter and Barbara Stoehr, was probably born at Rumbach in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. He was later married in about 1689 at Rumbach in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany to a woman named Anna Elizabetha Minicus (also written Minikus). 1,4 Elizabetha, who had been born in 1670 at Rumbach, Germany, was the daughter of Johannes Jacob Minicus and Johanatta Neuhart (also written Neuhardt). 1,10
In about 1694, Jacob and Elizabetha appear to have left Rumbach, Germany and moved south to the village of Langensoultzbach in what is now within the Department of Bas-Rhin, France, where Jacob’s occupation was listed in the Langensoultzbach Parish records as being that of a “cow-herdsman.” 8 Sometime prior to 1700, however, Jacob and Elizabetha returned to Rumbach, where they appear to have resided for the remainder of their lives. 1
Although Jacob is believed to have died at Rumbach, Germany, the actual date of his death has not been determined. Elizabeth, on the other hand, died at Rumbach, Germany on 22 September 1742. 10,14
