Death
James is listed as passing away on 12 Apr 1863 in Sawson General Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri due to Chronic Rheumatism - which today - would be considered incorrect. The real Cause of Death would have been some type of Disease contracted while in service. It was most likely a respiratory type issue. James is buried in the Old Orange Cemetery in Fayette County, Indiana. The stone is difficult to read and is located in about the third row back. The stone does state what Company and Regiment he served with in the Civil War and does have the identifying marker.
