Biography

Ebenezer Storer was born on 9 July 1758 in Wells, Maine. His parents were John Storer and Mary (Langdon) Storer[1].

He married Eunice Titcomb on 10 November 1785 in Portland, Maine[2]. They had seven children[3]:

1. Harriet, born 21 Feb 1786; married Stephen Stephenson
2. Mary Ann, born 20 Aug 1788
3. George L., born 25 Mar 1790; married Anna Chapman
4. Eunice, born May 1792; died young
5. Ebenezer, born Aug 1793; died young
6. Charles, born 16 Dec 1794
7. Elizabeth Lake, born 1 Sep 1797

Eunice passed away in 1798, and Ebenezer married Catherine Stephenson on 31 May 1800[4]. They had seven children[5]:

1. Ebenezer, born 20 Aug 1803; married Louisa Wooster
2. Edward, born 25 Apr 1805
3. Catherine, born 27 Feb 1807
4. Caroline, born 15 Dec 1808
5. William H., born 25 Dec 1810; married Harriet Rolette
6. Ellen, born 22 Sep 1812
7. Albert, born 16 Jan 1815; married 1st Elizabeth Wooster, 2nd Louisa Burrett, 3rd Augusta Burritt

Ebenezer was a merchant in Portland for many years before relocating to Gorham[6]. He passed away on 20 January 1841 in Gorham[7] and is buried in Eastern Cemetery.

Military Service

Ebenezer enlisted in the army in 1775 as a private in Col. James Scamman's regiment. He was appointed ensign under Col. Samuel Brewer that same year, and received commission as paymaster and first lieutenant under Col. Ebenezer Sprout. He served in the army until the end of the war in 1783 and was present at the battle of Bunker Hill, the siege of Boston, Fort Ticonderoga, Burgoyne's surrender at Saratoga, and Valley Forge[8].
