Alfred Streather was born in Bloomsbury, Middlesex, England.
Alfred was a member of the Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain.

Alfred Streather, son of William Streather and Martha Seadon, was born 2 May 1824 in Bloomsbury, Middlesex (London) and was baptised in the parish church of St Giles in the Fields, Holborn twelve days later. [1] In 1841, aged 15, he was living with four of his siblings on Broad Street in Bloomsbury (London). [2] By 1851, aged 26, Alfred had become a Professor of Music, and was living on Lower Eaton Street, St George Hanover Square (London), where his sister, Elizabeth kept house for him. [3]

Alfred became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 5 December 1852 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 139

Alfred married Ellen Englefield 27 August 1853 in St George Hanover Square. [6] They had three children: Ada Ellen. born in 1856, William born in 1863, and Maud in 1870. in 1871, the family were living at Stafford Row in Lambeth. [7]

By 1891, aged 63, Alfred had moved to Woodlands, in Looe, Cornwall with his daughter, Maud, where he continued to teach music. [8] By the age of 76, he was retired. [9]

Alfred died, aged 80, 2 April 1904 in Looe, [10] and was buried that day in the churchyard of St Martin by Looe. [11] His probate was registered on 5 May in Bodmin. His will was split between Richard Edgecombe, coal merchant, and Henry Hawkey, granite quarries foreman. He left effects amounting £1437 14s and 6d. [12]
