James Reuben Strickland was born on July 12, 1912 in Haberfield, New South Wales Australia. He was the son of Sydney Strickland and Margaret Andrews.[1]
He married Philomena Fitzgerald on December 2, 1933 in Paddington.[2]
James enlisted in the Australian Army on February 12, 1942 at Belmore. He served in the second World War (Service No.: N440466) as a gunner of the 2nd Australian Artillery Training Regiment and was discharged on April 27, 1944.[3]
He seems to have divorced Philomena before 1955, as James marries a second time to widow Monica Hitchins on November 5 that year in Newtown.[4] Monica is his daughter-in-law's (Audrey Strickland (née Holland)) mother.
James passed away May 5, 1985 in Moree.[5]
