Biography

Mary (Sugget) Suggitt was born in Huggate, Yorkshire, England.

Mary was baptised March 10, 1817 in Huggate. She was the daughter of William Suggitt and Harriet Allison, the second of eleven children in this family. The family moved from Huggate to Warter between 1829-1832.

Mary had two children out of wedlock: Harriott, born in 1837, and Anne, born in 1838. Mary died shortly after Anne was born in May 1838; daughter Anne also died, age 4 days; the two are listed in sequence in the Warter Parish burial register.

Mary died age 21, unmarried, buried at Warter on 22 May. She was survived by her one year old daughter Harriot (1837-1854), found living with her grandparents and three young uncles in Warter in the 1841 census.
