Biography

Ole was born 26 March 1831 in Sauherad. He was baptized 1 April 1831 and confirmed 18 October 1845 at the Sauherad Church.

He married Anne Olsdatter 16 October 1857. Ole took over the Sunde Farm in 1862 from his father, Anund Halvorsen, for 1,800 kronner.

At the time of the 1865 Norway Census, Ole and Annie were living at Sunde with their children, and also with Ole's parents. There were two teenage servants, Jens Gullickson and Guro Torkelsdatter, living with them. At the time of this census, the Sunde farm had one horse, five cattle, ten sheep and one pig. The farm was producing wheat, rye, barley, oats and potatoes.

In 1875, at the time of the census, Ole and Annie were on the farm Sunde with their children: Anund (born 1858), Halvor (1861), Ole (1863), Kari (1865), Ole (1869), and Johannes (1872). I wonder why they named two of their sons Ole? There was also a servant at the farm, Kirsti Johnsdatter and Kari Olsdatter (born 1803), Ole's mother.

In 1900, Ole and Anne were retired on the farm, which was now owned by his son, Halvor and his wife Anne. There was a servant named Torbjorg Olsdatter Kaasin taking care of the farm animals and also a 13-year-old adopted son, Ole Olsen, living with them. At the time of the 1900 Census, the farm was producing grain, had a vegetable garden, and an orchard. There were also cattle on the farm.

At the time of the 1910 Norway Census, Ole and Annie were living on the Sunde farm with their son, Halvor Olsen Sunde, his wife, Anne Hansdatter, and their children, Anne and Ole. Also living in the household was Johannes Olsen Sunde, Ole and Annie's son, who was unmarried, and a servant, Gunnil Hansdatter Valla. The census noted that Johannes "had no business, sustained privately."

Ole lived a long life. He died at the age of 89 on 30 March 1920.
