Biography
Matilda E. Suranyi was born in Hungary on January 1, 1891.
She is noted in husband Richard's immigration papers.
Matilda married Richard Jacob Dietle on October 11, 1913 in Washington, DC.
Richard registered for the draft for World War I in 1917 in DC, and while Matilda isn't mentioned by name, it is stated that Richard is married and has a child.
The 1920 census of Washington, DC shows that by that time the couple had 3 boys: 1917 Richard, 1918 Erwin, 1919 Henry.
1930 and 1940 censuses of Silver Spring, Maryland showed they added Herbert in 1922. All four sons were born in Washington, DC. The Dietles had a family bakery which was converted to a tavern at some point between the 1930 and 1940 census. Initially, Matilda was working as a saleslady for the bakery.
