When George was 20 he married Mary Lou Cowley on 7 December 1898 in Tennessee, USA. The couple had 7 children: James Sutton, Herbert Sutton, Bob Sutton, George Ollie Sutton, Arthur Lee Sutton, William Sutton and Chadwell Sutton.^[2]
