We know Lydia’s birthplace of Langsett, Yorkshire, from the 1851 census. I’ve not located her christening, so the first record is her marriage to Abraham in 1823, when she was 21, which places her birth year about 1802.[1]
Married
31 Mar 1823 at the Parish Church of Penistone (Yorkshire)[2]
Their first child followed exactly 9 months after the marriage, to be followed by ten more.[3][4] They (she) had had the first eight by the time of the 1841 census,[5] Isaac the eldest who I assume was working out, lived until his mid-40s. Their fifth child Sarah had already died before 1841, at the age of 5.
Lydia outlived Abraham by seven years, and appeared without him in the 1881 census, but still living at Midhope Hall, which had been taken over by her third son Joseph.[6]
ABT Feb 1884 at St James the Less, Midhopestones. [9]
