Laura was born in 1912. She passed away in 2003. She is buried at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Bucksport, Hancock County, Maine, USA.

BUCKSPORT – Laura Mae Rose (Sylvester) Clement, 90, went home to be with the Lord, Oct. 24, 2003, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Lindsay, Calif., the only child of Julia E. (Conary) and Edmund Sylvester. At 16, after completing high school, she and her parents returned to Maine where, on May 20, 1936, she married the late Maynard N. Clement. Together they raised nine children, Virginia Dow and husband, the late Francis, of Bucksport, the late Edmund Clement and wife, Ellen, of Gardiner, Ralph Clement and wife, Jean, of Bucksport, Bertha Coleman and husband, Daniel, of Bucksport, Winona Seekins and husband, the late Timothy, of Stockton Springs, Floyd Clement and wife, Earleen, of Bucksport, Norman Clement and companion, Gail Lord, of Orland, Ramona Backman and husband, Daniel, of Winter Harbor and Rozina Astbury and husband, the late Bradley, of East Orland. She is survived by sister-in-law Nora Bell and husband, Grenville, of Bucksport, 35 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by grandchildren Terry Seekins and Scott Clement. Laura thoroughly enjoyed life. She was a hard worker, known for her strength and simplicity. She believed in big families. The highlights of her life were gatherings and playing board games with family and friends and attending the Evangelical Baptist Church in Bucksport, of which she was a cherished member. She and her cousins shared a special relationship kept close by writing letters. Fondly called “Gram Clement” by many, she will always be remembered for the songs and stories she shared with all. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the Evangelical Baptist Church, Bucksport. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Evangelical Baptist Church, with interment following at the Silver Lake Cemetery. There will be a reception in the church gymnasium after interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to “Dreams for Maine Kids,” P.O.
