Charles was born in Ramsgate Kent about 1859. In the absence of any verifiable birth/baptism record, this info comes from census data. We learn from the image of his first marriage record that he is the son of Henry Symons, a game keeper.
Charles appears to have spent time in the military - at the time of his first wedding he was a corporal in the 28th Regiment. Later on, he worked as a waiter/servant at a military facility.
Charles was married twice. His first marriage was to Sarah Jane Thatcher in Shirehampton, Gloucestershire on 7 December 1879. We believe that 2 children, a son and a daughter came from that marriage, but the daughter lived only about 4 years and died in 1891. The son was born in 1884 in the West Indies, but we know nothing of the time Charles spent there. Charles was widowed upon Sarah's death in 1893. Then, in 1896 in Alton Hampshire, Charles married Lizzie Mary Hurt and they would have 2 children together. Their older son, Henry, lived for only about a year and he died in 1901.
Charles passed away in Farnham Surrey in Feb 1933 at about age 74. He was interred on 28 Feb 1933 at St Michael's, Camberley, Surrey.
Note from Profile Manager
We have prepared this profile mostly from the perspective of Charles' time with Lizzie Mary Hurt, who is our relative. Accordingly, it is not our intention to create profiles for first wife Jane or for the children who came from that marriage. However, we strongly encourage others to do so, and, if you do, please delete this note.
