John Tait had his education cut short when he arrived in Port Chalmers minus his Father.I understand that he went to work for a plumber. His interest in such matters any way led him into inventing. John married a daughter of one of the families off the `Phillip Laing' The Mawsons. In 1914 He and his wife went to England to arrange about the patent for his invention when war broke out and they were unable to return. Johns Maiden sisterJeannie was minding the children so continued to do so until the parents return. Johns family all seemed to do well.John and Hannah had nine children including twins. He was visiting Wellington on business when he died suddenly inMar 1935 They are both buried at Port chalmers. John was at one stage Mayor of Port Chalmers (Must verify this).
