In the "Lucas Genealogy" by Annabelle Kemp, 1955, is the statement "Thos. Letchworth, Sr., had transported two brothers, Michael and John Taney to the Providence of MD in 1755. John Taney was apprenticed to Major Thos Truman." There is further information here on that; I don't know if this is the same John Taney. It is also stated that this "John Taney married Elizabeth, dau of Thomas Letchworth, Sr." Noland 588.
