Biography

Robert Lynn Taulbee loved Buffalo Bill Cody, so he took on his nickname "Cody". He loved the rodeo and rode many bulls and broncs during his lifetime. He broke many bones, yet kept on going! He had a stroke a round 2008, leaving his left side paralyzed, yet he never gave up on having his own independence. He lived his life exactly the way he wanted to. He left behind a beautiful daughter, Tera and grandchildren. I will miss him. Then one day... I had moved back to Florida in 2011 until I got a phone call from our step-mother saying she could not get Robert to answer his phone. She lived less than two miles from him. My half-brother Carl Jr., also lived just 4 or 5 blocks from him. Neither of them could find the time to go check on him, so I packed up and moved back to Oregon that week. When I arrived, I found him in his room with his wheelchair clean across the room from his bed with a broken phone and TV. He was in critical shape. He had been sitting in his own feces for no telling how long. I called an ambulance and they took him to the Redmond, Oregon hospital where they found he had a brain tumor as well as cancer throughout his body. I called our step-mom, Jo and our half-brother Carl to come to the hospital to see him before they transferred him to the hospital in Portland. They made all kinds of promises to come see him in the hospital but as usual, they were a total no show. Keep in mind, Carl was our baby brother, we all grew up in the same house. Not once was Carl ever referred to as a half-brother. I followed Robert to Portland behind the ambulance. I stayed with him for the few weeks he had left to live. No one in the family ever came to see us. I lost my oldest brother, Floyd in 1990, David in 1995, Robert in 2014 and then Carl Jr., in 2022. Back around 1998, Robert was living in Florida and up and disappeared on all of us without a trace.. or so I thought. I even went back to Florida in 2002 to look for him. My step mother lied to me time and time again. Later I found out that I was actually only a couple of blocks away from him when I had ran out of time and had to come back home. My father died in 2003 and never knew that my brother Robert was alive as my step-mother kept his whereabouts secret from him and me. I did not find out he was alive myself until he had the stroke. She died in 2017 when her son, Carl, Jr. gave her a shot of insulin when he should of given her sugar. Carl Jr., died of alcohol poisoning and hemorrhaged to death after being in the hospital for two weeks. It is a very sad story of some pretty mean and rotten people. Jo died without having any of her own grand children. Carl Jr. died before he seen 65 years old and childless. I did not find out for a whole month that Carl Jr. had died as his nasty wife, Linda, who is now about 78, kept it hidden from my entire family. Now she is having to go to a nursing home because some kind of parasite laid some eggs in her and she has been in and out of the hospital, two weeks before my brother decided to get drunk and die. Maybe I should just write a book... I am the only sibling left now at 72 and not yet ready to give up the good fight! Tuesday, June 20th, 2023.

Robert was born in 1955. He was the son of Carl Taulbee and Patricia Britt. He passed away in 2014.
