Viola was born on 28 August 1909 in Milan, Rock Island Co, Illinois. She was the daughter of Albert Edward Taylor and Jennie Evaline Dupew.
In the 1910 census Viola M Taylor (age 0) was the daughter of Albert E Taylor in Black Hawk, Rock Island, Illinois.[1]

- "Viola Kempf 04/11/2003 MILAN, Ill. -- Services for Viola Kempf, Milan, will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Mrs. Kempf died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at her home. She was employed 23 years as a machinist at the former International Harvester, Farmall Works, Rock Island. Viola Taylor was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Milan. She married Alfred Kempf in 1926 in Milan. He died in 1966. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Hergert, and son, Al, both of Milan; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was a machinist, retiring from the former Farmall Works in Rock Island after 23 years. She knitted about one thousand stocking hats. Surviving are her daughter, Marlene Hergert, Milan; son, Al Kempf, Milan; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister."
