On the 1881 England Census, Alfred is living at 14 Silver Street, Taunton, Somerset, England with his father John Pickles Tetley, mother Jane Thompson Tetley nee Stanwell, 2 brothers, Arthur Toynbee Tetley and John Baptist Tetley, 3 sisters, Jane Helena Tetley, Ethel Mary Tetley and Sarah Gertrude Tetley, and Sarah Ann Court, a general servant. He is a scholar [4].

Alfred Samuel married Ellen Norah Lewis at the Silver Street Baptist Chapel in Taunton, Somerset, England on 15 August 1895 [7]. There was a marriage notice in the Taunton Courier and Western Advertiser on Wednesday 28 August 1895 [8]. The notice was as follows:-
"TETLEY--LEWIS -- Aug.15, at Silver-street Baptist Chapel, Taunton, by the Rev. J.P. Tetley, father of the bridegroom, Mr A.S. Tetley, M.A. (Cambridge), to Miss Ellen Norah Lewis, eldest daughter of Mr. Josiah Lewis, Taunton."
On the 1901 Wales Census, Alfred is living at Llwynon, Llanllwchaiarn, Montgomeryshire, Wales with his wife Ellen Norah Tetley nee Lewis, daughter Ethel Norah Tetley, sister-in-law Elsie Gertrude Lewis and a servant, Mary S Rhun. He is a Schoolmaster [9].
On the 1911 England Census, Alfred is living at 22 Avenue Road, Scarborough, Yorkshire-North Riding, England with with his wife Ellen Norah Tetley nee Lewis, 2 daughters Ethel Norah Tetley and Elizabeth Gertrude Tetley, son, John Lewis Tetley and 2 servants, Kate Featherstone and Rachel Watkinson. He is a Secondary School Headmaster [10].
He passed away on 4 September 1916 in Taunton, Somerset, England [11] [12]. There was an article 'Public Schoolmaster's Sudden Death at Taunton' in the Western Times on Friday 8 September 1916 [13]. There was also an article in the Taunton Courier and Western Advertiser on Wednesday 13 September 1916 regarding his funeral [14]. He was buried in St Mary's Cemetery, Wellington Road, Taunton, Somerset, England on 8 September 1916. There is a profile on Find A Grave: Memorial #194573453 for Alfred Samuel's burial site [15]. There is an entry for Alfred in the Annual Monitor for 1917, being an obituary of Members of the Society of Friends in Great Britain and Ireland from October 1, 1915 to September 30, 1916, Volume 105 [16].
