Biography

Robert Thaxter was born in Norfolk, England.

Robert was born about March 1872 in Norfolk, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of agricultural laborer James Thaxter and Susannah Keeler. ^[1]

Robert, son of James Thaxter & Susanna, was baptised on 7 April 1872 in Norfolk, England.^[2]

In the 1881 census Robert (age 9), Scholar, was the son of James Thaxter in Guestwick, Norfolk, England.^[3]

Robert emigrated to Canada about 1886.^[4]

In the 1891 census Robert (age 19) was in Killarney, Algoma, Ontario, Canada.^[5]

Robert (age 23), son of James Thaxter & Susan Keeler, married Sara Jane Mccaully (age 20) on 26 June 1895 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of John McCauly and Flora McLean.^[6] They may have had seven children.

In the 1911 census Robert (age 38, born March, 1872), was the married head of household in Algoma, Ontario, Canada. He had four daughters: Flora, Ida, Catherine and Emily. He was farming on their farm at Con 4, Lot 8.^[4]

Robert's son James John Thaxter was born on 12 June 1911 in Salter, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Robert's occupation was farmer.^[7] Their youngest child Margaret was born about 1915, but sadly passed away in 1917.^[8]

He passed away (aged 89–90) about 1962. Robert was mentioned on a memorial in Grandview Cemetery, Massey, Sudbury District, Ontario, Canada with a death date of 1962.^[9]
