Biography

Obediah was born in 1724. He was the son of Richard Thayer and Mary White. He passed away about 1791 in Boston

Married Jan. 10, 1751, Joanna Thayer, born May 10, 1728, died ____. (alive 1785), dau. of Capt. Ebenezer4 & Rachel (Wales) Thayer, sister of Rachel wife of his brother Gideon Thayer. He was a trader, removed to Boston in 1758 and was warned out of town Apr. 1, 1758, having been in town 8 days from Braintree with wife Joanna and Liddia, Susanna, & Joanna, their children (Suffolk Court Rec. #78432). They were alive Mar. 31, 1785 when they sold land obtained by execution against Josiah Hayden of Williamsburgh, and probably in 1788. He is not in the 1789 directory of Boston but either he or his son, Obadiah is in the 1790 census there with 1-0-1. He was elected hogreave 1751.
