James Thomas was born on 9 April 1865 in Kittanning, Armstrong, Pennsylvania, United States, son of Stacy Howard Thomas and Mary "Polly" Altman.^[1][2]

James and Sarah Jane Van Leuven were married on 21 June 1902 in Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho.^[3] Sarah was born on 1 January 1865 in Paradise, Cache, Utah Territory. They had the following children:

1. James Leveret Thomas
2. Mary Mildred (Thomas) Staten
3. Stacy Lewis Thomas^[4]

James died on 31 October 1909 in Lewisville, Jefferson, Idaho, United States, aged 44. He was buried in the Lewisville Cemetery in Jefferson County, Idaho.^[1][5][6] His will was transferred from Fremont county to Jefferson County, Idaho on 7 February 1914.^[7]

Research Notes

• A note in his FamilySearch profile, from his granddaughter, says that he had no middle name. While he was living in Lewisville, the postmaster asked him to pick a middle initial, as there was already a James Thomas living there. And so, he chose the letter "A".
