Lady Elizabeth Thynne was born 27 February 1795, the eldest daughter of Thomas Thynne, 2nd Marquess of Bath and his wife, Hon. Isabella Elizabeth Byng.
She married by special licence at Grosvenor Square, 5 September 1816, Hon. John Frederick Campbell, who succeeded his father as 2nd Baron Cawdor of Castlemartin on 1 June 1821, and was created 1st Earl Cawdor of Castle martin on 5 October 1827, after which she was known as the Countess Cawdor.[1]
John Frederick Vaughan Campbell, born 11 June 1817, succeeded his father as 2nd Earl Cawdor;
Lady Emily Caroline Campbell, born 6 January 1819, married 31 March 1842, Hon. Octavius Duncombe, she died 22 May 1911 having had issue;
Lady Georgiana Isabella Campbell, born 1 May 1820, married 25 June 1840, John Balfour, Esq. of Balbirnie, and died 3 December 1884 having had issue;
Lady Elizabeth Lucy Campbell, born 16 January 1822, married 28 June 1842 St George's, Hanover Square (in a double wedding with her brother John Frederick Vaughan Campbell and his wife Sarah Mary Cavendish), John Otway O'Connor Cuffe, 3rd Earl of Desart, and died 26 April 1898 having had issue;
Son (stillborn) 29 August 1823;
Lady Mary Louisa Campbell, born 7 January 1825, married 29 April 1846, George Granville Francis Egerton, 2nd Earl of Ellesmere, and died 19 September 1862, having had issue;
Hon. & Reverend Archibald George Campbell, born 11 January 1827, Rector of Knipton, Leicestershire, married 29 September 1853, Charlotte Henrietta Howard (of Earls of Carlisle), and died 2 May 1902 having had issue;
Hon. William Henry Campbell, born 14 July 1829, died young 29 May 1830;
Lady Blanche Charlotte Campbell, born 10 August 1831, died young 2 September 1831;
Lady Adelaide Campbell, born 13 August 1832, died young 26 April 1833;
Hon. Henry Walter Campbell, born 23 March 1835, Lieutenant-Colonel, Coldstream Guards, married 29 June 1859, Fanny Georgiana Campbell, and died 17 December 1910 having had issue.
She died 16 February 1866 at 3 Tilney Street, Park Lane, Middlesex. Her will was proven on 5 March 1866 at under three thousand pounds.[3]
