Biography

John Gerhard Edward Tiarks was born on 28 Dec 1896 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.^[1] He was baptised Church of England at St Johns Church, Victoria on the 19th of Feb 1897, his birthdate also noted in the register. His parents were recorded as John Tiarks and Ada Constance H.^[2] His father was noted to be an Architect.

In the 1901 Canadian census, "John G E" was the 4 year old son of John G Tiarks (34) in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.^[3] Later that same year his father died after injuries suffered in a bicycle accident.^[4] Sometime after this incident John and his mother returned to England.

In 1911, John Gerhard Edward (14) was a son, School, in the household of A Constance H Tiarks (45) in Bristol registration district in Gloucestershire, England. ^[5]

John (25) married Evelyn Florence Cripps (23) (born on 18 Jan 1899 in Winford, Somerset, England; daughter of Percy Roland Cripps and Mary Howard (Tripp) Cripps) on 1 Jun 1922 in England.^[6][7] While living in Wiesbaden, Germany they had a daughter Anne Patricia Tiarks.^[8]

John served in World War I and World War II. ^{[9] [10]}

John died on 27 Nov 1962 in Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom, aged 65.^{[11] [12] [13]}

His paternal grandfather was a Priest and his maternal grandfather was a Reverend.

• John Gerhard Tiarks, father of profile emigrated to Canada from England in 1888 at the age of 21. In 1895 he went back to England to marry Ada Constance Helen Harrington. After the marriage, Ada and her widowed mother both emigrated to Canada.
