Biography

Ingeborg was born in Stranden, Hemsedal, Norway on February 17, 1848 and christened in Gol, Buskerud, Norway on March 26, 1848. Her parents were Torsten Guttormsen and Mari Tollefsdr. ^[1][2]

She took father's patronym Guttormson as family name upon immigration. Based on the 1900 U.S. Federal Census, she immigrated in 1864.

Inger married Nels Maystad in the United States. They had nine children. Five survived the Diptheria Epidemic: Tilla, Ida, Jenny, Mary and Nels. Her husband was a carpenter and made all of the caskets needed during the epidemic. She was a seamstress and made all the white dresses needed for burial.

Ingeborg Maystad passed away on December 7, 1918 in Steele County, North Dakota.^[3]

She is buried in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Steele County, North Dakota. ^[4]
