Biography

John was born in 1786 to George Martin Treible and Anna Elizabeth Allman, probably in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton Twp., PA.

In 1807 John married Marie Michael (who went by "Mary" or sometimes "Polly") at the Old Stone Church in Shawnee. In 1810 they lived with their two children in what was listed as "Lower Smithfield" with John's name listed as Trively. In 1820 they were living in Smithfield Township, where John -- appearing as "Trebley" - headed a household of 9 people, including their seven children. By 1830 they were living in Pike County under the name of "Tribley" and their household had grown to 13. They had four more children (now totaling 11, but one of the houlsehold members was a man in his 30s (too you to be John and too old to be the eldest son George) so they may have had a boarder or a hired hand living with them. Daughter Elizabeth, who would have been 21, did not appear to be in the household. In 1840 the family was living in Middle Smithfield as "Trible". Only one son and one daughter remained in the home.

John passed away in 1845 at age 59. His burial place is unknown, but could have been the old Michael family burial ground off River Road. Mary lived nearly another 40 years beyond him, dying in 1883. (Although she is buried at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, the church cornerstone was not laid until 1851, so John almost certainly lies elsewhere.
