John Le Poer Trench, rector of Temple Michael, Longford, died in Edinburgh on the 29th ult., where he had gone to consult an eminent surgeon upon a painful disease, to which he had been for some years past been subject. The occurrence has caused unfeigned sorrow among his numerous parishioners, to whom he had for many years been a diligent and faithful pastor. His death, and that of the Rev. Wm. Digby so lately, whilst it is 'gain' to them, must prove a serious loss to the diocese of Ardagh."[4]
