John Trott's name appears "in the calendar of the Taunton Manor Rolls" for "1458, 1463, 1473, and 1479." [3].
The following are plausable dates for John Trott, but entirely proven, by Robin Bush retired deputy archivist of Somerset Records Office
1454-5: Staplegrove, £4 from John Trotte for 1 cottage with curtilage containing 4 daynes of land in the tithing of Grasscroft which was of John Bodynewelle, and the said John first fined for 1 dayne of the said land to attract the rest (DD/SP 325/24) [4].
1469-70: Staplegrove, 20s from John Trotte for (?) and 3 acres of overland called Sindercroft and 2 acres of meadow overland in the tithing of (?), by grant of Thomas Chappelyn, and 3s, 4d from the same John for (?) overland in the tithing of Staplegrove, by grant of William Lobbe (DD/SP 325/36; roll damaged)[5].
1475-76: Staplegrove, 10s from John Trotte for 4½ acres and 1 rod of overland in Syndercroft in the tithing of Staplegrove, by grant of Henry Burgess (DD/SP 325/40[6].
