Biography

Joane was christened on 16 Aug 1635 at St Nicholas at Brighton, Sussex, England^[1]. Her parents were Thomas Tuppen and Elinor Anstey.

Her father previously married (on 29 Nov 1619) Janne Tredcroft who died in 1621 (likely related to childbirth)^[2]Their son, Thomas, died in infancy (1621-1623).^[3]

From her parents' marriage she had two known siblings also born in Brighton: Thomas (b 1623)^[4] and Maria (b 1626).^[5]

Joane married Thomas Jeffery on 3 Jan 1655 at St Nicholas in Brighton, Sussex, England.^[6]

Apparently she was already a widow at the time of their marriage.^[7]

Joane and Thomas had five known children, all born in Frant, Sussex:
