Mary Anne was born about 1840. She was the daughter of Thomas Tyrrell and Harriet Shoyer. [1]
The family emigated to Nelson, New Zealand in 1841 on the Bolton. Mary Anne's father Thomas was listed as an agricultural labourer and the children were aged 3 and 1.[2]
Her father died in 1843 and her mother remarried.
On 26 December 1859 Mary Anne married Nicholas Samson of the Croixelles. She was married at her stepfather's house.[3][4]
She had a son, William Thomas Samson[5], on 4 September 1860[6]
Mary Ann had a second son, Nicholas junior, in 1862.[7]
In 1867 they advertised their sheep run for sale.[8]
She died in 1902. [9]
