Biography

Harriet Mills was born in 1848 in Wenhaston, Suffolk, England to Samuel Mills and Caroline (Lines) Mills. Her birth was registered in Blything, Suffolk in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Lines.[1]

In 1851 Harriett Mills (age 2) lived in Wenhaston with her father Samuel (28, Ag Lar), mother Caroline (30), and sister Martha (6).[2]

In 1861 Harriett Mills (age 12, Scholar) lived in Leiston, Suffolk with her father Samuel (39, Labourer), mother Caroline (38), and brother Samuel (1).[3]

Harriet Mills married Henry Last on 28 Oct 1868 in Aldringham, Suffolk.[4] The marriage was registered in Blything in the last quarter of the year.[5]

Harriet and Henry had six children:

  2. William Last (1870-)
  3. Frederick Last (1871-)
  4. Ellen Last (1875-1878)
  5. Allen Last (1881-)
  6. Albert Last (1884-)

In 1871 Hariot Lash [Last] (age 24) lived in Leiston, Suffolk with her husband Henry (24, Agricultural Labourer) and two sons: Alfred (1) and William (0), as well as lodger [her brother] Samuel Mills (11).[6]

In 1881 Harriet Last (age 34) lived at Snape Rd in Leiston with her husband Henry (33, Agricultural Labourer) and four sons: Alfred (11, Scholar), William (10, Scholar), Frederick (9, Scholar), and Allen (0), as well as boarder John Last (21, Agricultural Labourer).[7]

In 1891 Harriet Last (age 46) lived in Leiston with her husband Henry (45, Agricultural Labourer) and four sons: Alfred (22, General Labourer), William (21, Agricultural Labourer), Allen (10, Scholar), and Albert (7, Scholar).[8]

In 1901 Harriet Last (age 53) lived in Leiston with her husband Henry (54, Horseman on Farm) and son Alfred Last (31, Clothing Machinist Engine Fitter's Labourer).[9]

In 1911 Harriet Last (age 63) lived in Leiston with her husband Henry (64, Labourer on Farm) and son Alfred (41, Iron Planer Machinest for Engine Department).[10]

Harriett Last passed away in 1911, aged 64 years. Her death was registered in Blything in the last quarter of the year.[11]
