Vines gr. him a lot ‘in Yeapskesset River’ in 1639. An arbitrator betw. John Richards and Francis Knight, 1640. Tr.j. 1640, 1645; gr.j. 1645. Evid. of Wells 20 Nov. 1645 when Vines gr. 200 a. on s.w. side of Obumkegg River to him and Edmund Littlefield. Wells selectman 1647, 1648. Took Ind. deed in 1649, and in 1650 took poss. and made deliv. to s. Robert as joint purchaser. In 1654 Thomas Wheelwright and Ezekiel Knight wit. ag. him for swearing; the next yr. he was fined for defaming a gr.j. man, a sequel to this case. Comr. for Wells 1659. Lists 242, 252, 261-264, 22, 23. Wife Mary abs. from meeting 1654, liv. 18 Apr. 1664. His will, 7 July 1671 (Me. P. & Ct. Rec. ii: 244), directed bur. beside deed, wife, names 3 ch., the son exec., Edw. Rishworth and Samuel Wheelwright overseers; inv. 20 Sept. 1671 by James Gooch and James Smyth, £453. Ch: Robert. Mary, m. Thomas Mills (12). Joanna, m. 1st Jonathan Thing (1), m. 2d Bartholomew Tipping. Her fa. willed her 1/6 of his cattle.

Had a grant of land from Vines "in Yeapskessett river" April 1, 1639. Bought land of Indians 18 Oct. 1649. Took oath of allegiance 5 July, 1653. Was one of the first selectmen of Wells. With wife Mary sold land 19 Dec. 1663. Son Robert joined with the father in purchase of land from Indians and in sale of same March 13, 1659.
