On 12 Mar 1836 he was tried and sentenced to life imprisonment for rape at the Durham Assizes. He was transported to Australia on the ship Norfolk, under Capt. Gatenby, leaving on 27 Oct 1836, and arriving in Sydney on 12 Feb 1837.
He received his ticket of leave, 45/729, on 21 Dec 1845, and his conditional pardon on 15 Mar 1852, for the district of Bathurst.
In 1870 he married Ann Mary Wild at Bathurst. |The couple had 12 children.
In 1872 he was recorded as a farmer, at Oberon. (Grenvilles PO Directory).
He passed away in 1899.
