Biography
Mechteld van Arkel married Jacob van Lichtenberg. They had 5 daughters together. They founded "capelrien" at the Sint Catharina Convent in Utrecht. She joined the convent of St Servaes.[1][2]
Her daughters Aleid and Agnes sealed with a half Lichtenberg/Arkel coat of arms.
Chronologically Mechteld could have been a daughter of Johan II van Arkel (1250-1297) it is also suggested she was a daugher of Hugo Botter van Arkel, as well as a daughter of Jan I Heukelom.
