LEVEL CROSS The Rev. Billy J. Vandemark, 79, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Sunbridge Health and Rehab of Asheboro, where he resided for the past 25 months due to an extended illness.
He was born March 3, 1925, in Durand, Mich., a son of the late Lester Milton and Grace Hutchinson Vandemark. Rev. Vandemark was a retired minister of Bible Holiness Church in Randleman and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a loving husband and a wonderful Dad, he will be greatly missed.
Surviving are:
his wife, Sadie Goforth Vandemark of Level Cross;
three daughters, Katherine Summerlin and husband Ron of Level Cross,
Geraldine Mounce and Thelma Bullard, both of Summerfield;
one sister, Maxine Kerman and husband Elmer of Michigan;
two brothers, Jerry Shorna and wife Letha of Arizona,
Bobby McQuillen and wife Dorothy of Michigan;
seven grandchildren, Shannon and Deanna Sutphin, Darla Parks, Chris Mounce, Sandra Jones, Jennifer Ray and Jason Bullard; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times in the home at Level Cross.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home Chapel in Kernersville by the Rev. Arthur Swaney and the Rev. Gary Ickes. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped take care of their loved one during his stay at Sunbridge, especially all the staff and Hospice for their kindness and support. We would also like to thank our friends and family in this time of grief.
The family request that memorials be directed to Center of Living Home Health and Hospice, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
