In 1850, Joseph was in the household of his father, Cornelius, in Vienna, Scott, Indiana.[1]
In 1860, Joseph was in the household of his mother, Elizabeth. in Vienna, Scott, Indiana.[2]
During the Civil War, he enlisted as a Private in Company B of the 93rd Regiment, Indiana Infantry. [3]
He was captured and sent to Andersonville Prison, where he died of disease in 1864. He was buried at the Andersonville National Cemetery.
