Carl Fredrick Vater (son of Fredrick Vater and Fredericka Lau) married Elizabeth (Grueneisen) Vater 12 May 1869 in the Town of Plymouth, Sheboygan County, WI. She died on 3 Nov 1931 in Plymouth, Sheboygan County, WI. The children of Elizabeth and Carl Vater were: Robert William Vater, born 25 Oct 1870 in Plymouth, WI; Amanda Vater, born 13 March 1872 in Plymouth, WI; Nettie Katherine Vater, born 1 May 1874 in Plymouth, WI; Arthur Vater, born 10 Sept 1877 in Plymouth, WI; Herman F. Obituary from the Plymouth Reporter, Thursday, June 9, 1892

"CARL VATER

Carl Vater, residing on his farm about two miles west of the city, died Sunday the 5th. He was born in Littendorf (sic), Saxony, Germany, in 1842, consequently was in his fiftieth year He came to this country with his parents, when but six years of age, and has spent most of his life in this vicinity. Mr. Vater was married to Miss Elizabeth Gruineisen, in the year 1869, and she together with six children, remain to mourn his loss. He also leaves an aged mother, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Schmidt, both of Milwaukee, and one brother, Rob. Vater of the town of Plymouth. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and was very largely attended.

In the death of Mr. Vater, we are losing a good citizen, a gentleman in every respect, and a man well liked by all of his acquaintances."
