Nicolas Auguste Verlaine was born on 24 March 1798 in Bertrix, French Republic (today in Wallonia, Belgium). [1][2]
His father Henry Joseph Verlaine died in Bertrix on 5 ventôse year 13 (24 February 1805).
His mother Anne Louise Augustine Grandjean was living in "Molhau, Belgium" in 1831.
First Lieutenant in the French army, he married Elisa Dehée on December 15th, 1831 in Arras, Pas-de-Calais. They will have one son, the poet Paul Verlaine. [3]
Nicolas Auguste Verlaine, son of Henry Joseph Verlaine and Anne Augustine Louise Grandjean, husband of Julie Elisa Dehée, died on 31 December 1865 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.[4]
