George Russell Vierra was born in 1917 to George Lewis Vierra and Anna Johnson. George was of Portuguese descent. Both sets of grandparents were 100% Portuguese and immigrated to the U.S. in the later part of the 1800s.
He married Thelma Ilene Godsey and had two daughters with her before his untimely death in 1950. He died of a heart attack without warning.
He is buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California as he served during the years of World War II in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant stationed on Treasure Island, San Francisco, California.
