Biography
When Barbara Voegele was born on April 11, 1813, her father, Thibault, was 47, and her mother, Catherine, was 45. She married John Berger and they had five children together. She then married George Gerhard and they had four children together. She died on August 6, 1859, in Rochester, New York, at the age of 46.
The territory of Alsace-Lorraine was created by the German Empire in 1871, after it annexed the area following its victory in the Franco-Prussian War. It was "returned" to France after WWI in a treaty signed 28 Jun 1919 in Versailles.
