He was conscripted into the German Army on 12 Oct 1914 and served in Glücksburg, Diksmuide/Flanders, and Berlin. He was a typesetter ("Schriftsetzer") like his father.
Hugo married Rosalie "Rosy" Anna Waßmann (5 Jan 1906 - 6 Nov 1981) on 28 Apr 1928 in Hamburg.[4][5] She was the daughter of Hans Wassmann, a head waiter.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12] Later Hans operated a small business at Pestalozzistraße 45 in Hamburg.[13][14] Hans passed away in 1932.
Hugo and Rosy had one son, Klaus.
In 1930, 1931 and 1932, Hugo is listed as a letterpress printer ("Buchdrucker") and as residing at Hölderlinsallee 14.[15][16][17] In 1933 and 1934, he is listed as residing at Desenißstraße 57.[18][19] In 1936, 1938, 1940, 1941, 1942, and 1943, he is listed as a letterpress printer ("Buchdrucker") and as residing at Desenißstraße 57.[20][21][22][23][24][25] During World War II Hugo worked at the mechanical engineering company Heidenreich und Harbeck in Hamburg. In 1952 and 1955, he is listed as a government employee ("Behördenangestellter") and as residing at Tannengrünweg 26 in Lemsahl-Mellingstedt.[26][27]
Hugo passed away in 1964[28][29] and is buried at Friedhof Ohlsdorf in Hamburg.[30]
