Biography

Robert Henry Vollmer was born October 26, 1931, in Knox County Indiana to Frank E and Effie L McClure Vollmer. When he was a teenager, he worked in an orchard. He married Rosalie F Prout 1954 in Vincennes Indiana. The couple later moved to southern Lawrence County Illinois. He was a farmer who believed in sustainable agriculture, a method that minimizes the use of chemicals on land while conserving topsoil and improving its fertility.

During the Korean War, Robert was a Sgt in the US Army

Robert Henry Vollmer died October 25, 2005, in Evansville Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Vanderburgh Indiana of lung cancer at age 73.
