Thurs., Jan. 6, 1887 Vol. 10, No. 5, Book page 28
Local News: In a difficulty last Thursday near George's Camp Groundbetween Sam Wainwright, Jr. and Chris Kissinger, in which pocket kniveswere used somewhat freely, Kissinger received several painful wounds inthe abdomen and breast, while Sam's wearing apparel was more or lessmutilated. Sam was arrested Saturdy, charge with assault with intent tokill, and gave bond for his appearance before Squire Pelham last Tuesday,at which the examination was continued until today. LATER- From theevidence given before the examine court the first charge was consideredsustained and the defendant was adjudged to be quilty only of an assaultand battery and was fine accordingly. Kissinger's wounds are healingrapidly and the best of feeling exists between the Combatants.
Kissinger, who had volunteered to assist Ward in the arrest of SamWainwright, mentioned elsewhere, halted George Gordon on the publichighway, compelled him to throw up his hands and submit to detention,while the rest of the posse pursued and arrested Wainwright. Theyclaimed that Gordon was intending to inform Wainwright of the approachand thus allow him to evade them.
