Harriet Walker was born in 1860 in Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, England to Sarah Walker.

Harriet Walker, daughter of Sarah Walker, residing at Landywood, was christened on 26 Feb 1860 at St Mark's in Great Wyrley.^[1][2][3]

• Harriet's father was almost certainly William Whitebrook. Harriet's mother was employed as his servant in both 1851 and 1861. One of Harriet's brothers was registered with the middle name Whitebrook, and one of her sisters was registered with the surname Whitebrook and mother's maiden name Walker (though she used Walker as her surname on all other records). Harriet's mother sometimes claimed to be a widow, but she does not seem to have ever actually married. On her marriage record, Harriet listed her father as "William Walker."

In 1861 Harriet Walker (age 1) lived at Landywood in Great Wyrley with her mother Sarah (25 [41], Housekeeper) and three siblings: James (17, Coal Miner), Willm (10, Scholar), and Eliza (8, Assists at Home) - they lived in the household of Sarah's employer Willm Whitebrook (47, Farm Labourer).^[4]

In 1871 Harriet Walker (age 11, Scholar) lived in Great Wyrley with her mother Sarah (51), brother William (20, Coal Miner), and sister Eliza (18).^[5]

Harriet Walker (age 19, residing at Great Wyrley, daughter of William Walker) and Thomas Morgan (age 19, residing at Great Wyrley, son of Thomas Morgan) were married on 25 Dec 1878 at St Mark's in Great Wyrley.^[6][7] The marriage was registered in Cannock, Staffordshire in the last quarter of the year.^[8]
