The death of Mr James P Walsh, of Caherciveen, whcih took place recently, was learned with feelings of deep regret by a wide circle of friends and relatives in South Kerry and beyond its confines, and much sympathy was felt for his bereaved widow and family. Deceased was a member of a wll-known family connected with the business life of Iveragh for generations, and was a vintner and auctionerer by occupation. "Seamus" Walsh, as he was affectionately known, was a staunch friend, and most goo-natuired, with a cheery word for all, and he was loved and esteeemed for his many good qualitues ofheart and hand. A great huntsman and follower of the famous Kerry Beagles, he was the life and soul of the meets with other packs in South Kerry, and the GAA had not a stauncher supported. He was the father of Pat Walsh, who played for the Kerry Juniors. A forcible and fluent platform speaker, he gave great and valuable services to the Fine Gael Party during election and other times. His passing removes an outstanding figure from the life of South Kerry. The interment took place to the family burial ground at Killarvarnogue, and the funeral cortege was the largest seen in the district for years."[8]
