Note: Her obituary in the CENTRE DEMOCRAT of Thu. 5 Jan 1888 reads:

"Mrs. Philip Confer, one of the oldest residents of Howard Township, died at her home there on Dec. 30, 1887. Mrs. Confer, whose maiden name was Margaret Wants, was born in Howard Township May 7th, 1804 and was married on the 2nd of October 1823 to Philip Confer, at the residence of Hon. John A. Woodward and has lived in the immediate neighborhood all her life. She lived with her husband 65 years and was the mother of fourteen children, ten of whom are yet living; 77 grandchildren, and 47 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Philip Confer, who survives her, was born Feb. 26, 1801, and we hope he may live to round out the century."
