He emigrated from Ireland with the Warnock family about 1852, settling in Meriden, Connecticut. Henry became a naturalized American citizen in 1859.
He first married Elizabeth Hazen. Henry and Elizabeth had one child.

In the Civil War, Henry enlisted in Company F, 1st Connecticut Volunteer Infantry in April 1861. The company guarded Long Bridge over the Potomac River at Washington, DC. He reenlisted in Company A, 15th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry in July 1862 and was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg in December 1862. He was discharged in August 1865.
Elizabeth died in 1863. (She died in childbirth while Henry was away serving in the Connecticut Volunteers.)
Henry married Lucy Jane Costello in Massachusetts in 1869. Henry and Lucy had two children.

They separated around 1876 and Henry appears to have vanished for a time. He reappears in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1901 as a salesman for the Meriden Britannia Company.
He passed away in 1908 and was interred at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden Connecticut.
Henry Warnock, formerly of this city, was found dead in bed at his home on Buckingham street in Hartford Tuesday morning. Mr. Warnock had retired from active business and had been living in Hartford for several years. His death was a great shock to his relatives and friends. He leaves a brother, Matthew, of West main street, and a sister, Mrs. Albert Thorp, of Britannia street. He is survived also by two sons, William G. Warnock and Thomas H. Warnock, and a daughter, Miss Hattie Warnock. The funeral, which will be strictly private, will be held today at the home of T.H. Warnock, Rev. A.T.
