Emma Louise Weber (or possibly Webber) was born on December 5, 1869 in Saint Croix,[1] or Mosel, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, United States to parents Peter Weber and Anna Catharine Breiter.[2]
Emma and family lived at 202 North Walnut in the city of Marshfield in Wood County, Wisconsin during the 1910 United States Census. She a 41-year-old widow and head of household who owned the house free and clear. All seven of her children were alive. Living in the house with her were children Annie a 20-year-old store clerk, Charley, a 17-year-old garage apprentice, Walter and August, both 14, 12-year-old Willie, 10-year-old Elmer, and 4-year-old Alice. Their last name was spelled Jasmire in the census record.[3]
By the 1920 United States Census, the family had moved to Detroit, Michigan and owned a home at 1066 Vermont Avenue. Emma, age 51, was the widowed head of household and didn't work. Her children living with here were Charles W. who was a 27-year-old factory lathe hand, August who was a 24-year-old police patrolman, Walter H. who was a 24-year-old garage machinist, William H. who was a 23-year-old cost accountant in a factory, Elmer E. who was a 20-year-old factory machinist, and Alice who was a 13-year-old student.[4]
Emma moved to 9393 Ravenswood in Detroit, Michigan, which she rented, by the 1930 United States Census. She was 61 years old, widowed, and the head of household. Living with her were her children August who was 34 and a warehouse foreman, Elmer E. who was 31 and a chauffeur for a coal company, and Alice who was 24 and worked in the office of a department store. The family had a radio set.[5]
By the 1940 United States Census, Emma was 71 years old. She rented a house for $37 a month at 5067 Maplewood in Detroit, Michigan. Also in the house were her son Charles W. who was 48 and an auto mechanic at a private garage, son Walter H. who was 44 and an auto mechanic at an auto salesroom, and grandson Charles Gebhardt who was a 19-year-old upholsterer at an auto factory.[6]
Emma died in Detroit, Michigan, on April 28, 1946[7]. She was buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington, Mason County, Michigan.[8]
