Elizabeth J. Weeden was born on August 17, 1834, in West Milford, Passaic, New Jersey. She was the daughter of John M. Weeden and Sarah Jane Montross.
Her father died in early 1840, and in the 1840 Census, she was living with her widowed mother and siblings in West Milford, Passaic, New Jersey.[1] In 1850, she was living with her grandparents in West Milford, Passaic, New Jersey (her mother and siblings had moved to Warwick, Orange, New York).[2]
Elizabeth married Daniel B. Hyatt on November 18, 1854, in Vernon, Sussex, New Jersey. (Her brother John married Daniel's sister Ruth in March 1860). They had four known sons - Norman, Maurice, Etson, and Albert (in the 1900 Census, Elizabeth reports having borne six children, with two still surviving).[3]
In 1855, Daniel and Elizabeth resided in Warwick, Orange, New York, in a house with Daniel's aunt and uncle and sister, and Daniel worked as a carpenter, a profession he pursued his entire working life.[4] From 1860 to 1880, the couple lived with their sons in Warwick, Orange, New York.[5][6][7][8][9] In 1900, the couple lived in Warwick, Orange, New York, and Daniel was retired.[3]
Daniel died in 1902. In 1910, Elizabeth was living with her sister Martha Freeman and family in Warwick, Orange, New York.[10]
Elizabeth died on May 30, 1918, at the age of 83. She was buried at Warwick Cemetery in Warwick, Orange, New York.[11]
