Dr. Edgar W. Weir
ATWOOD, Ill. – Private funeral services for Dr. Edgar W. Weir, 63, the only general practitioner in Atwood since 1929, will be held Saturday at the Born funeral home here. Burial will be in Mackville cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Dr. Weir died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, following a heart attack.
A 1928 graduate of the University of Illinois School of Medicine, he served as a major in the U. S. Army for three and a half years during World War II.
Dr. Weir was a member of the United Church of Christ, Atwood, and the board of directors of the Illinois conference. He was also an affiliate of the Piatt County Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
Surviving are his widow; Blanche; a son, Gene, Colombia, Mo.; and a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Walsh Jr., Bement; his mother, Mrs. Meada Weir, Decatur, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Colmey[sic] and Mrs. Leo Ruedge[sic], both of Decatur.
